Prime Minister Modi lays foundation stone of Ganga Expressway, India’s longest expressway

Shajahanpur (UP), December 18. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh (UP) today, Envisioned to become the longest expressway in India, the nearly 596 km Ganga expressway will usher in an era of opportunities and create thousands of jobs in UP, Mr. Modi said. The next generation infrastructure being built in UP will satisfy all future development needs, he said.

The Ganga Expressway being built at an estimated cost of around Rs 36,200 crores will feature a 3.5 km long airstrip and an industrial corridor too. It will have six lanes which could be expanded to eight lanes in the future along with four lane service roads on both sides. The right of way width of the expressway is 120 metre. It will start from Meerut district and end in Prayagraj.

Terming the project an expressway of infinite opportunities, the prime minister said new expressways, airports, railway lines and stations are being showered on UP which will help the public save travel time, money and will bring overall prosperity ti the state. “Your time won’t be wasted in traffic jams and you will be able to spend your time fruitfully, said Mr. Modi. The expressways of UP will reduce the time taken to travel from Delhi to Bihar too, he said. Farmers and cattle herders and industries will also benefit along with the youth and businessmen. The taxes paid by the common man are now being used to build the next generation infrastructure of UP, Mr. Modi said.

Mr. Modi stressed the need for completing the road projects quickly, ahead of the schedule, if possible. The new roads are multi-purpose ones and are being built considering all types of developmental needs and future developments. For development high speed connectivity is a must. Only when things are transported fast, industries and trade will flourish and progress will come, Mr. Modi. UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath presided over the inaugural function.
