Gorakhpur, December 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three big ticket projects of estimated cost of Rs 9600 crore in Gorakhpur, in Uttar Pradesh, the home turf of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The projects include a modern fertiliser plant, an AIIMS and a regional medical research centre of Indican Council of Medical Research (ICMR) .
The AIIMS and research centre are expected to benefit not only UP, but also Bihar, Jharkhand and Nepal. The foundation stone of AIIMS and fertiliser plant were laid by Mr Modi five years ago and the construction works met the deadline. The fertiliser plant will be managed by Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited, a public sector company.
The Prime Minister said, in a three pronged approach, the government stopped the misuse of urea by introducing 100 percent neem coating of urea. He said soil health cards are given to crores of farmers so that they can decide what kind of fertilizer is needed for their farm. He said the Government laid emphasis on increasing the production of urea. Closed fertilizer plants were also forced to reopen to increase the production. The Prime Minister informed that with the completion of 5 fertilizer plants in different part of the country, 60 lakh tonnes of urea will be available in the country. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and governor Anandi Ben Patel were among the dignitaries who participated in the inaugural function.
