Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway to be opened in October 2022

Bengaluru. Dec.7. Construction work of the state-of-the-art Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway is on track, and will meet the deadline of October, 2022. Media reports quoting NHAI auhtorities say the 117.3-km Expressway, includes a three-lane road on either side of the median of which two lanes are for four-wheelers, and one for three and two-wheelers.
The expressway also includes double lane service roads on both sides. Once commissioned the expressway will reduce travel time between the two cities to 90 minutes, from the present three hours. Travellers from Bengaluru to Kerala who use the Mysuru route are also expected to benefit immensely from this road.
The first phase of the expressway extending from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta in Mandya district will be ready by May next year, while the second phase from Nidaghatta to Mysuru will be in place by September, said reports.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 8,172-crore project Vehicles can cruise past at 100 kmph when it is ready. The road project was to be completed earlier. However, the two Covid waves and a shortage of manpower and material have pushed deadlines repeatedly in the last two years
The project is being executed under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I and the work is being executed by Bhopal-based Buildcon Limited. The project also includes the construction of three elevated corridors including a 5 km section in the outskirts of Bengaluru, a 3 km section in Maddur, and the third one in Srirangapatna.
