What will be union government’s stand on SilverLine?

Silver Line

Though Kerala Government said initially that it will go alone in the SilverLIne semi high speed rail project, now the state finance minister K N Balagopal and chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan have hinted that the centre will participate. Taking into account the fact that K Rail, the company formed for implementation of SilverLine has the participation of Indian Railways, there is a chance that eventually Kerala government will get centre’s support.
The main hurdle in implementing the project is going to be land acquisition of land. Kerala Government’s track record in disbursing compensation is not good. So public are likely to oppose. If government pays proper compensation, then the protests against SilverLine may weaken
