Kerala born Raj Subramaniam appointed CEO of US transportation giant FedEx Corporation

Thiruvananthapuram, March 30. The pretty long list of Indian origin CEOs in the US corporate world got bigger the other day when Raj Subramanian, a native of the South Indian state of Kerala was announced the new president and CEO of FedEx Corporation. The CEOs of Microcsoft corporation, Google, Adobe, IBM etc are all Indian origin Americans.

Frederick W. Smith, the current chairman and chief executive officer, will be the executive chairman from June 1. Raj Subramaniam is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Corporation.

In addition, the chairman of the board’s audit committee, R. Brad Martin is currently the board’s non-executive vice-chairman. Martin is the board’s appointed successor to serve as chairman of the board as vice-chairman of the board. Chairman of the Board’s Governance, Safety and Public Policy Committee, David P. Steiner will continue as lead independent director. Smith and Subrahmanyam will report directly to the board.

“FedEx has been able to change the world within 50 years by connecting people and possibilities,” Smith said. “Raj Subramaniam is capable of taking the company forward,” Smith said.

Raj Subramaniam was elected to the Board of Directors of FedEx Corp in 2020. Prior to becoming president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corporation, Subrahmanyam was president and chief executive officer of FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company. Raj Subrahmanyam joined FedEx in 1991. He has held several assignments in Asia and the United States. He has also served as executive vice president and chief marketing and communications officer of FedEx Corporation.
