Kerala government has granted permission to take a loan of Rs 1500 crore from the HUDCO for constructing homes to those eligible under Life Mission Housing Scheme; including beneficiaries from the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, and fishermen groups, said minister for local self government M.V Govindan.
Against this backdrop, the local self government(LSG) bodies in the state need to expedite steps to enter into agreements with beneficiaries selectedas part of the third phase of Life Mission Housing Scheme, the minister added. The first installment of the aid could be distributed using the funds available with LSGs and allocations in the state budget for the scheme. Subsequent installments will be distributed after getting the loan from the HUDCO.
The minister sought the help of all sections to complete the construction of houses progressing currently before December 31. The state government is planning to complete construction of one lakh homes under Life Mission Scheme before 2022, May.
